Validation! runDisney DLP Gives Me A Green Light

There have been a number of hiccups on my quest to run the 2nd Annual Disneyland Paris Half Marathon Weekend.

While in Madagascar I ran into trouble just logging in to sign up. You’d think it may have been due to spotty internet access because I was in, ya know, Madagascar. But no. EVERYONE was having trouble as the runDisney DLP team was having technical difficulties way beyond Stitch loose in the computer room or a a quick resolution by Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers.

Then there was the start/stop, hurry-up-and-wait of submitting medical certificates and race results to ensure I met the requirements of their event.

There’s a little part of me that was disappointed they didn’t have a “You Must Be This Tall To Run” sign; maybe at the race expo.

But after weeks and maybe as much as a month and a half (I’ve lost track of time to be honest), I was still listed as “pending validation” under participant race details.

A few folks had posted to Facebook that they had sent emails and were able to get validation soon thereafter. I figured the runDisney team was innundated and overwhelmed with people scrambling to upload medical certificates that hewed to the French requirements. I will say my doctor laughed at having to sign off on me running a half marathon. She knows I run way too much and was probably tempted to scrawl on the certificate, “He *can* run a half marathon but the question is *should* he?” Thankfully she didn’t.

Anyway, I finally dropped an email to the runDisney folks this morning as I’m headed out of town shortly and won’t be able to submit any revisions/additional details in case they needed it. It seemed worth a quick email.

Their reply is below.

I don’t know who Julia is…. I thought about replying and asking but feared that would only further complicate matters.

Given that I went from a pending “yellow light” to a non-subtitled “green light” to run, I’m gonna call it tres bon and just say merci.

Allez!  Allez!

Courez, Kevin, courez!

or because we’re all friends here maybe it’s

Cours, Kevin, cours!

I can tell you if you type “run command in French” into google you wind up with this:

I suppose that is technically what I asked but, sigh, really?
