It’s been a jetlag crazed, mileage scrounging, setback fueled few days back in the City of Angels. There’s a variety of reasons I’m trying to cut this place from my traveling routine, not the least of which is that I’ve nearly been hit by motorists and bicyclists every single run I’ve gone out for since arriving on Monday night. These things happen; hell, I myself am guilty of squeezing toward the crosswalk to gain a vantage point of cross traffic for a right turn on red. But I like to think I’m willing to apologize if I’m in the wrong or spook a pedestrian… especially if they are in a crosswalk and have a WALK or illuminated WALKER light. But not so much these past few days. Yeesh. The rudeness, the traffic, and the odd sense of entitlement for motor cars sours my mood a bit.
But rather than rant and rave for too long, I thought I’d post a few pics from the Firecracker Triple races up in Portland this past weekend. So here’s a few choice highlights.
Note: I decided NOT to do too many of the course itself and instead tried to pick shots that captured the vibe of three marathons in three days with perhaps too much carousing but no regrets of same.

Good news for my Amazing Maize Maze compatriots from almost 20 years ago. We may have been lost in that damn maize maze for three hours, but I think I might be able to get us out of this one.
Post Run Eats — A 4th of July hot dog with too much mustard (I didn’t know my own strength when trying to push the dispensing pump!) and a strawberry shortcake that failed to live up to the hype.
