Last week after reading about the 11-hour cutoff for this weekend’s now 55K UltraMarathon, I ordered a hydration pack from Amazon. But it was $5 cheaper to order it from a third party vendor on their site and NOT go with Amazon Prime’s free two day shipping. They said it was slated for delivery between March 21st and March 23rd (inclusive… otherwise it’d be, ya know, just March 22nd as the delivery date). I’m leaving tomorrow for the Grand Canyon and I thought, “Well… I’ve got a 66.66% chance it’ll get here before I leave…”
As is often the case when I gamble, ANY chance for failure usually means, yes, Virginia, there is failure afoot.
The mail truck has come and gone.
No hydration pack.
I guess I’ll roll the dice and just carry a bottle of water. That should be fine.
