The Sedona Marathon

It’s been a long day without you, my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again

Seeing as how I just got home after a series of road rage inducing hours, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again… in the meantime, here’s a photo gallery of the day, starting with the sub-freezing temperatures as I checked out of my hotel, to the hour+ wait time at the start line complete with balloons hovering over the Red Rocks of Sedona, and the race itself consisting of an out-and-back hilly horseshoe course.

Ultimately, the hills and up and downs took their toll.  But I came in 6th overall and 2nd in my age group.  It was the last time I will race in that age bracket.

A few disappointments — the shirt I bought was half off at the finish, but I was already wearing it and thus ineligible for a refund…

And all participants got the same medal.  I know this shouldn’t bug me as who really cares?  And yet… I kinda do.  So somebody who ran the 5K go the same swag and medal as I who ran 26.2 miles.  Petty maybe but it’s how I feel.

And now a quick bite before calling it a day… I’m starting to think I should institute a policy whereby I don’t drive longer than twice the time it takes me to run the marathon.
