Given this latest Muscat Marathon posting, it’s safe to say my odds of successfully “winning” the Muscat Marathon just went to zero.
My personal record, set at peak conditions on a downhill course, was a 3:05:27. Unless there’s a massive NoroVirus outbreak, or a doping scandal worthy of Russian “intelligence” agencies, or a bunch of people stub their toe, or decide “eh, I don’t feel like running today…” the odds are NOT in my favor.
And I’m okay with that. Sometimes I feel like I’m pretty fast but it’s nice to be reminded that there’s ALWAYS somebody WAY faster than me. Not that I generally need that reminder. Much like Baymax, I know I am not fast. But like many a runner, I have delusions of speed now and again. In my dreams, I’m Speed Racer, right?
