Here are a few photos from the past few weeks courtesy of others. Sometimes you see a picture of something you distinctly remember happening but can’t believe that particular photo exists. You suddenly realize it’s from a different angle than you ever remember seeing before. It’s new and provides a different context or perspective on something you thought you understood or knew. That’s what happens with some of these pics — clearly I was there but because I didn’t review them on my camera roll later they seem like alien artifacts of another person and another time.
So Xenolinguistics and Pictographs it is!

Harpeth Hills Flying Monkey Marathon, Nashville, TN — I’m think most of them are courtesy of David Martin Photography. But there were a few others from fellow runners or aid stations that got posted as well.

Clyde Shanks’ shots before the Space Coast Marathon 2016 do a particularly good job at capturing my awkwardness. I am indeed awkward in real life — my running gait is weird, I inherently smile at just the wrong moment so that when the on-course photographers snap their shutters I have a weird grimace… or maybe that’s just the way I always look, even when attempting to smile. Point is, despite how especially funky I look in the second shot below, I think it captures my soul quite well. Befuddled, awkward, and in my fish-out-of-water ignominy.
