Red Eyes, Sleep Deprived, Mind to Lose

Yeesh. That was one tough red-eye. I just couldn’t sleep on the plane.

Upon arriving in LAX, I cancelled my breakfast plans with one of my best friends as I was flat out exhausted. The rental car place was an exercise in Goldilocksian Murphy’s Law. The first car I got had a check engine light; the second had no keys; and the third… well, it wasn’t rigged to explode if I went over 50 mph because I’m not sure it CAN go over 50 mph… so I guess it’s “just right?” It got me to where I needed to go, though.

After some fuzzy half-sleep nap time, I got out the door for a run to try and shake off the cobwebs of travel, to clear my head, and to get right with the day. It would be a slow, slow process. But I got a few miles in and will tick a few more boxes before calling it an early night. I need to double check a few details on the Little Grand Canyon run this weekend in Price, Utah. It’s mostly packed gravel trail but with little incline so that’ll be good for the soul and soles.

Still — yeesh.
