February 23, 2019 – Cowtown 10K

This cowpoke felt more like a slowpoke… or at least a “slow a huffalump poke.”

The weather forecast called for high winds so I donned a wind breaker. But while it was marginally nippy this morning, there wasn’t much breeze and we were able to chill inside at the expo before lining up. So within a few meters of crossing the start line, I was feeling overheated. It may have been a wind breaker but it acted like a greenhouse, trapping heat inside and making me grow roots that said, “just stop. Wouldn’t you rather stop? Stopping is good!”

Basically I just wanted to curl up with a book or a movie and not be running. But I ran anyway. As I do.  Hopefully tomorrow will be easier….
