Another day, another race, another 3 AM wake-up. This is taking a toll. But at least today there wasn’t rain… just a lot of Hound of the Baskerville style fog. Traversing the moors of Disney World, I ran well and had a lot of character photo ops. Mom had to work today so opted not to come and cheer me on and I strongly encouraged her to sleep in. Funnily enough, I got home from the race just as she was getting ready to go to work. I regret now not snapping a photo of this — me in my drenched Goofy Challenge shirt and her in her World of Disney costume. Would’ve made for a fun photo. Did I learn nothing from the previous posts about always, always, always opting for the photo ops?
I did the best I could though along the route. The one hiccup, and one I should really work to remedy in the future, is that at times the water stops and my sweat made “swiping” open my iPhone to the camera neigh on impossible. So I missed more than a few choice shots and have to hope the MarathonFoto folks snapped a good pic. I wasn’t going to get the photo package this year, especially since I didn’t see them offering a discount package when I did my bib pickup the other day. But I wandered back to the Expo this afternoon to check and sure enough they were offering a $100 voucher for $75. I spend way too much money on these things but somehow I feel like photos are a better investment than a “Judge Me By My Time Do You?” Yoda running shirt… albeit that IS one pretty awesome shirt. Phooey, as Donald Duck might say.
Here are some of the photos I was able to get captured on my slippery phone:

The shirt in question… and the answer is “did not buy.”
