A really great guy I met while running in Antarctica in 2016 put together a reunion tour of sorts for folks to run the Mount Everest Marathon this year. He does it for charity to support the Nepal village he was working at during the huge and hugely devastating Nepal Earthquake of April 2015.
For a variety of reasons I didn’t join him on that and any time I see photos of the adventurous souls during that trip out and about in the Himalayas, there’s a little bit of runner’s and traveler’s envy. But there’s also a sense of, “Man… that looks bonkers… like, really, really, REALLY bonkers.” I think I made the right decision but there’s still that sense of, “what if…?”
But in 2018, Gert is putting together another excursion, this time to run the Kathmandu Urban Marathon.
And as of this morning, I’ll be joining him.
