Two Today

Yesterday was a blur. After a sleepless red-eye and a late night/early morn post of the Honolulu Marathon finish line, I didn’t do much. I ran a recovery run to shake off the stiffness of long haul flights but it was a slow, lumbering ordeal.

Today has so far been more of the same. I did a run before the sun rose but wound up walking a fair bit of the closing miles; I’m looking to do a second run late this afternoon to reset things a bit.

In the meantime, I wound up registering for a “Friendship Run” in Tokyo the day before their marathon. It’s a 4K run limited to the first come, first registered 2000 runners. There’s also a lottery of 200 runners to do what is hilariously translated as:

This running event aims to provide the Japanese hospitality to runners and interactions between overseas and Japanese runners.

Tokyo Marathon 2017 is also seeking the overseas runners who can participate in the Friendship Parade, which will be held as one of the Tokyo Marathon Week 2017 official events, “Let’s go and see the marathon finish area!”
(Venue: Marunouchi Nakadori Avenue , Date & Time: Saturday, February 25, 2017 3:00 pm)

So will Gojira Kev be amongst the paraders going to see the marathon finish area? I’ve got a one in ten shot – way better odds than a lot of lotteries.

I just got back from my second run of the day.  It was a slow slog but I ran the whole way.  Is it better to be slow and maintain the running?  Or is it better to run faster, walk some, and then run maybe faster but more likely a lot slower?  Jeff Galloway is all about the run/walk and let’s be honest that guy knows a thing or two about running.

I seem to be all about the “by any means necessary to finish.”  I’m no expert… I just do what I can.
