We the People… A Facebook Post on September 11th

Today’s a dark anniversary. It was a terrible day 15 years ago and there are no words that can adequately convey what that day was like or what that day is. The wounds have scabbed over and scars remain; I’m not sure we’ll ever heal. The fallout and the issues from that day continue even now and will sadly continue to reverberate through time.

But I believe that after such an awful attack not only on the United States of America but on humanity as a whole, there is still hope to be gleaned from that day. “We The People…” as our US Constitution begins. “We hold these truths to be self-evident”… as our Declaration of Independence crowed… that among certain unalienable rights are “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” I believe in the hope for humanity because I believe IN humanity.

And so while hate and fear mongers strive to sow discord and dis-unity, threats that come from both foreign and domestic sources and all walks of life, and with the full knowledge that Thomas Jefferson warned that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance, we the people will not let our humanity be torn asunder.

We are better than that. We are stronger together than we are divided.

We the people, in order to make a more perfect union not only for one nation but for one world, will not tolerate intolerance, violence, hate, oppression, or discrimination of any kind. There will be bad days and we will make mistakes… but I believe we will ultimately make things better.

We the people stand together against the forces that seek to destroy humanity. We the people are for peace and prosperity for all… but make no mistake we will fight those that seek to take others’ life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

We the people will endure and we the people will make this world a better place for all.

We the people are better than what others would have you believe.

We the people are better as one.
