June 15, 2016 – A Cheers-ian Interlude

Making my way through the world wide web today takes everything I got.
Taking a break from all my worries of uploading photos sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t I like to get away?
Sometimes I want to go…
Onto the roads I know by name

So I decided to take a break from photo curating and head out for another training run. It’s a bit more overcast today and slightly cooler — it’s apparently 93 degrees but only feels like 103. Again I took two bottles of water and plodded through my miles.

The last mile and a half saw a few more clouds roll in and the wind pick up; there’s a small chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. I tried to take advantage of the slightly cooler temps and cooling breeze. But I had mismanaged my energy and speed reserves. Despite my best efforts, the only late stage kick was the asphalt kicking my butt.

Still, I stumbled on home in just under 1 hour and 37 minutes 9 seconds for the 10 miles. Sub 10 minute miles for the day is something I can live with. I just wish I had felt better during the mileage.. and that I had felt better about having done it. Resource management — it’s not just for mid-level office drone types.

Not that there’s anything wrong with mid-level office drone types. Hell, I’ve BEEN that mid-level office drone type. It’s a tough, tough gig — you’re getting hit from all sides. Those that report to you think you’re not doing enough for them and those above you on the organizational chart think you should be cutting costs more and more.

Point is:

Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your name,
and they’re always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.

You wanna go where people know,
people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows
your name.

You wanna go where people know,
people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows
your name.
