Going, Going, Regrets Going

Ultimately I decided to get a lyft and head to the airport. While Marvin drove and chatted to me about his mom’s recent visit to El Salvador, my phone “buzzed” in my pocket. A notification from AirBNB told me my host was responding to my early morning text confirming my arrival time.

Here’s what I saw when I opened the app’s inbox:

I scrambled to contact AirBNB support.  It’s a 45-60 minute hold time by phone or I could “chat” and someone would get back to me in 24 hours.  None of these were going to help much but I opted to text as it seemed unlikely I’d get anyone before my flight was boarding for Denver.

Scrolling through my hotel options, most are long since sold out as this is a pretty big weekend for the town.  I was able to track down a crappy Motel 6, at which I’m paying close to $100 a night.  That’s under the most I’ve ever spent for a Motel 6… that would be a $150 per night Duluth room for Grandma’s Marathon.  Still – Motel 6 came into beIng as offering $6 a night rooms.  Even with inflation, come on, man.  At that price I assume there’s been no murders at the place.  Is that a plus?

Basically I was already unsure about doing this trip.  Now an hour or so into it (thanks traffic!), I’m really, really regretting this.

sigh.
