Luck Be A Kevin (in) November.

Today was the first day you could register for the Berlin Marathon lottery. I’ve never tried registering before as it always fell on dates I had things already planned. But for 2018 they moved it forward (or is is back) a weekend to the middle of September and I think I can make that work.

If I were a “fast runner” with a qualifying marathon time of sub 2:55, I would automatically get a slot. If I booked through a tour group or charity I could be assured a spot. But I think I’m going to try my luck with the lottery. I haven’t done great in these things in the past; especially with a World Majors marketed event, of which Berlin is one of the signature races. But I figure we left the gods of fate and chance spin their wheel and see what comes up.

It was a little disconcerting to have the automatic reply from the registration committee that they had their fingers crossed for me. I guess that’s a universal icon for lottery and luck and good fortune wishes. I wonder etymologically speaking where that came from?

To the bat-google-machine, Robin!

Bat Results – a little too religious-y for my tastes.
