Here’s what the Artificial Intelligence Rock Bot sent me as a finisher’s certificate for yesterday’s event:
Apparently, there were 797 marathoners out on the streets of Raleigh.
I clicked on the Half Marathon winner’s stats just to see how many runners they had: 3,867.
Because there was an affiliated race weekend 5K on Saturday, I checked that for numbers – 1,770.
Looks like there were 3 wheelchair participants and 7 Ainsley’s Angels runners.
By my math, that puts the race weekend totals at 6,444. Unless they had 3,556 DNFs (Did Not Finishers), I’m not sure where the race announcers got “close to 10,000” for their announced figures.
Perhaps I misheard them.
Perhaps I’m too much a stickler for things like “accuracy” and “facts” and “truth.”
