Cruiser’s Log – Supplemental
A few stray shots and thoughts from several days at sea:
9/17 – Barcelona – Boarding
Open House in the Kids Clubs meant I could add some Jar Jar color to the cruise.
Mr Potato Head lends me his ear… for a little while

9/18 – Day at Sea # 1 – Sea Legs Marathon and Formal Night On The High Seas

Red Sky In Morning, Runners Take Warning
Meeting the princesses as a “footman on holiday” — not my best fashion choice but I was attending my Queen Mum…
Plus, Captain Hook thought it was funny:
Dinner at Palo’s on Deck 10 ALWAYS ends with a chocolate soufflé.

Freezing The Night Away
Yoo-Hoo! Family! I first met Derrell a few years back when he was a youth activities counselor and I was the only person to show up for an open house event. He had to be there anyway so we just sat around chatting. He’s great and although I mistakenly called him Daryl that whole cruise I eventually found out his name is pronounced “Da-Relle.” These days he’s on the cruise staff and still just as delightful as always. While he often is hosting “Anyone Can Cook” which I suspect means Disney is grooming him for even bigger things, here’s a shot of him as an Arendelle “cousin” during the FROZEN inspired night onboard.
Speaking of family, one of our favorite crew members was back behind the camera capturing memories as part of the Shutters team. Zoltan was looking forward to getting back to Shells and baby Zoe but we were glad he was still sailing…

9/21 – Ponta Delgado, Azores, Portugal
Hey, Mickey and Minnie — Watch Me Pull an Olaf Out of My Hat!
Atlantic Bowling has one of the greatest logos I’ve ever seen. I need another t-shirt like Pinocchio needs strings but I wish I could’ve bought a Ponta Delgado shirt from here.
A tribute to my brother and Elvis…

So windy… so sleepy… shamefully slothful

9/23 – Day at Sea # 5 – Pirates IN the Caribbean
Parrot Games
As a side note, we went through a number of name options for the bird. Polly felt too common; I liked Monty or Parrot Number 2 in honor of the Python’s ex-parrot sketch. But when we listed names while waiting in line for a character meet and greet to the always charming Savvy, her Southern Drawl six going on 26 voice approved Harold as the name. I suspect it may have been because Harold was the last name I said in the list but I still liked it — Hark the Harold Parrot Sings!
As a second side note, we had cruised with Savvy and her delightful parents Wes and Erica on a prior cruise. Here we all are as pirates in 2014 and reunited in 2016 (albeit Savvy went and joined “the other side” as the Pan… I hear because she wanted to sword fight more).
What do you call a group of Smees? A smorgasbord of Smees? A smattering of Smees? A snoot? A snozzleberry?

9/25 – Sydney, Nova Scotia
Upon exiting the ship, I really wanted to ask the Mounties if there were any inordinately large fiddles laying about.
BTW – mom rightly wanted to ask if there was a large fiddle case they put it in during inclement weather.

9/26 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
Hey – nice beaver!
Semi Formal night aboard the ship and nary a top hat in sight!
Well, that is until after hours… then all hats are top hats!

9/27 – Day at Sea # 7
Though it’s called Anyone Can Cook, I got the chance to be a guest judge at the chef cook off, proving Anyone Can Eat! Note: “Nepotism” helps — Derrell was hosting.

The Big Apple!
By the way, how do you get to Carnegie Hall? By boat from Barcelona (and an Uber from the port).
