It’s a numbers game.
6.6. That’s the round trip distance of each loop… a bit longer than the advertised 6.55 miles, at least according to my Garmin watch.
4. That’s the number of loops to get to a marathon distance… or beyond given the aforementioned GPS watch readings. But my Garmin is prone to +/- a surprisingly large margin of error.
3 (-ish). That’s the number of water bottles I drank during the run. I had crumpled the sides of the plastic bottom in a death grip so it wasn’t an exact refill at various water fountains. Whatever the volume of water it turned out to be, it wasn’t enough.
39,106. That’s the approximate number of steps closer I am to Pike’s Peak as my 400th marathon.
1. That’s where I placed today.

It’s amazing who you bump into at a Charlie Alewine Race. Great running with you today, Dee Dee! And thanks to you and all your support staff, Charlie!
I’ve been here before. I’ve run this course more than a few times. But I ran it today to get to 399 lifetime marathons.
Pike’s Peak… gulp… here I come.
