A Picture Worth $60? — The MarathonFoto 2018 Boston Marathon Gallery

Thirty-two photos.  That’s how many MarathonFoto claims to have gotten of me along the 122nd Boston Marathon course.  One is definitely not me so it’s really 31.

Of those, this may come closest to being a distillation of the experience, capturing the atmosphere, a moment that says, “Yeah… that’s Boston on April 16, 2018.”  You can see the rain falling, the soaked clothes clinging heavily on me, the Spider-Man hat that proved such a hit with spectators.  It’s a decent shot.  I don’t think it’s worth $60, the pre-race price for the package of all my photos but  that’s what I paid so I guess that’s what a picture is worth.

The rest of my photos range in quality from “meh” to “blech.”  Over the span of 26.2 miles I would’ve thought they might have caught me a few other places… but I guess there were 26,000+ of us out there in the rain.  I generally don’t love the way I look in photos — and I’m looking particularly rough in these pics — but it was what it was.

Here then is what they shot, complete with rain drops on the official photographers’ lenses.  It seems like a lifetime ago already.
