March 24, 2018 – Chili Pepper Series Day 4 – Las Cruces, NM

Today was loops 37 through 48.

I know it’s the same route but it felt much longer each time round.

I was slower today, somewhat by design yet mostly by necessity. My legs are dog tired, shot through with pain at each footfall. This does not bode well for Bataan. Some veterans of the run remind me that there’s a 7.5 mile “gradual” hill and that there’s a sand pit around mile 22. I tried to “la-la-la” not listen but I think my legs heard the warning.

In the end I put up a 4:04-ish marathon today. It felt much longer, both in distance and in time.

This was the 48th time this week that I viewed the aid station/finisher’s table.

And this is a poorly framed “bling” shot of the week’s medals.

Tomorrow is another day, another marathon.

The alarm is set for 3 am.

I doubt my legs will be rested by then.
