According to my pre-travel letter from Albatros Adventures, while the local currency is the kyat (pronounced chat and abbreviated K), I really should bring US dollars. *But* they need to be unmarked and in excellent condition as the locals are “reluctant to deal with damaged notes.” I assume counterfeit bills then are rampant.
This is the race route — at one point I told people I was running through 1000 temples. I’m not sure it’s a thousand, I may have pulled that number from my non-existent hat, but there do seem to be quite a number of them.
