I’ve tried to track down the title tack to Road to Bali.
Apparently, the studio recut the movie after some test screenings and only a very brief snippet of this song exists during the opening titles. There is however a 17-minute LP of the soundtrack, one that replaced Dorothy Lamour’s singing with Peggy Lee. I don’t quite know what happened there but it was a sign of the less-than-stellar treatment to come for Ms Lamour as in Road to Hong Kong she was reduced to little more than a glorified cameo.
Try as I might, I can’t find the lyrics to the song… and for some reason I’m leery of paying the 99 cents to download it from Amazon.
But in the meantime, I’m packing up the last bits and pieces for the Road To Bali.
