July 15, 2017 – Rockin’ The Beach Marathon
Same course, different day, worst time.
Back on the California Coastal Trail, running the same route as last week’s blast, I arrived in Long Beach with enough time to start with other early birds.
Running the four quarters yet again, I did… poorly. The opening loop was slower than last week… and things did not improve as the miles dragged on.
There’s a meme born from Mean Girls (2004), a film with perhaps the last decent performance by Lindsay Lohan. In it, a character is trying to introduce a slang term to the clique and by extension to the masses. At one stage, Rachel McAdams as the queen bee mean girl, loses patience and shouts to her minion, “Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen! It’s not going to happen!”
The advent of self-generated memes unleashed millions of variations upon the digital realm.
As for my bastardized personalization of the quote, it’s this:
